Downtown Gainesville’s newest bar, the upscale Whiskey House, is open for business on Southwest Second Avenue across from Loosey’s.
“We’ve always dreamed of opening a bar in Gainesville,” said Blake Haley, the general manager and one of three partners in the venture. “We loved going to Midtown and doing the sardine-can bars and the $3 pitchers. … But as we got older, we decided we wanted to have a place where we just hang out and have great music and really good quality cocktails.
“You might pay a couple extra bucks for (them), but you can really relax and enjoy a good beverage.”
