This Is How Berlin Does Waffle House

If all the Subway, McDonald’s and Burger King restaurants in Berlin don’t settle your taste for fast, American munchies, there’s always Waffle House—at least in the name.

At the southeastern tip of the Berlin Wall’s East Side Gallery section, along the Spree River and next to the historic Oberbaum Bridge sits The Waffle House. It comes off much more “tasteful” than the U.S. version, with a simplified menu sans the warning about the food possibly getting you sick, an outside dining area with sand flooring, a venue stage and a covered bar.

It’s probably safe to call it “the classiest WaHo in the world”—a visit, if you’re ever in Germany, that you could consider adding to your bucket list.
