10 Incredible Live Recordings: ‘The Weight,’ ‘Deal,’ ‘All Apologies’

I know I’ve just missed the Grammy Awards, but I’m still going to use them as an opportunity to do a personal listicle: 10 of my favorite live recordings. Included are my top group, what I consider MTV’s single greatest contribution, and a nod to the recently deceased Don Wilson (who the Grammys excluded from the in-memoriam segment). Hope you enjoy them, too.

“All Apologies,” Nirvana (from “MTV Unplugged,” 1993)

“Deal,” Grateful Dead (Buffalo, New York, 1989)

“Glory Days,” Bruce Springsteen (from Letterman’s last episode on NBC, 1993)

“I’ve Got a Feeling,” The Beatles (from the rooftop concert, 1969)

“Scarlet Begonias,” Grateful Dead (San Francisco, California, 1974)

“The Weight,” The Band (from “The Last Waltz,” 1978)

“Voodoo Child,” Jimi Hendrix (Hawaii, 1970)

“Warehouse,” Dave Matthews Band (Central Park, New York City, 2003)

“Wipe Out,” The Ventures (Japan, 1966)

“With a Little Help from My Friends,” The Beatles (from Ringo Starr’s Rock Hall induction, 2015)
